Personality types – they can make it hard to get along, but where would we be without them? It’s what makes us all unique. It’s the difference between your eldest son who spends all his time on his homework and your youngest son who’s always hanging out with his friends.

Why does Gordon in accounts make sure he has a list of possible topics of conversation written on an index card before he goes to the office party? Why is Lydia in human resources always cracking jokes, sending silly emails and never looking like she’s actually doing any work? Why does Boris at the bank insist on seeing your ID every time you go in, despite the fact that you’ve banked there for nearly 20 years, while his colleague Sean greets you with your first name and asks after your kid, forgoing the formalities?

Everyone is different, but there are certain people we just naturally “click” with, while others will drive us round the twist without even opening their mouths. How can we improve our relationships and communication skills? By appreciating our own and others’ personality styles.
